the ring fell out of my engagement ring and instead of just taking it to a jeweler like i should have i stupidly tried to fix it myself : i messed it up really bad, the band is bent and so are the little things that hold the jewel in place. i tried to fix the things that hold it in place with a pair of pliers so there scratched and bent very badly. is this even repairable? if so how much will it cost me?

you should ask your married friends who their jeweler is and go to those stores based on their recommendations. it's best to get a referral from someone who's done business with the jeweler in the past rather than just randomly bringing it to a place in the mall. you can shop around for the best repair price but if you have no insurance rider, you'll have to pay for it yourself and if the prongs are really weakened because of what you did, you may have to buy a new setting.
