What Can You Do With All Your Mardi Gras Beads
Mardi gras beads are throws that are tossed from the floats as they pass during a Mardi gras day parade. You can cut the strand to attach another strand by twisting the end of the beads together. This will allow you to form a strand of beads in whatever length you need. How do you make a magnetic ring launcher?
I'm not talking about those ten little beads on a little wire in a piece of wood. I have physics project and i need to make one. I know i need a ton of wire and need to wrap it around something. And i know i need a solid metal ring. can anyone else help me with the rest of this? And could you use as much detail as possible? thans
No, you don't need a ton of wire. You need a long transformer core, which can be a bundle of small iron rods such as welding rods. Wind a coil around one end. Apply 12 volts ac and measure the current. At 120 vac it will draw ten times as much current, so wind some more wire on it until you think it's safe to apply the full 120 vac.
Now you need a ring, and it has to be an aluminum ring. That is because aluminum is anti-magnetic; when you plug it in the aluminum will try to get away from the field. Iron would try to get closer to it. Be sure the gun is not pointed at anybody or anything. Put the ring over the core. Plug it in. Marvel at what happens.
